How to Clean diamond Jewelry?

Jewelry or ornaments such as necklaces, bracelets and earrings enhance one’s beauty and charm. Though everybody likes dazzling jewelry, yet it is mostly the females who adore it. However, the time comes when your enchanting piece of jewelry may lose its earlier shine! After wearing for a few days, the piece of bright and shining jewelry may lose its charm and glitter. Do you want to know why this happens? This is due to dust, dirt and the body lotions that we use. Jewelers often advise us to clean jewelry carefully on a daily basis. A good cleaning can turn a dull piece of jewelry into a charming and eye-catching one.

Cleaning Jewelry

Before cleaning your jewelry, you should make sure of certain things, such as the stones should be fitted properly. Make sure that mounting and all the clasps, prongs, etc. that fasten the piece together are tight enough to clean. If you are not sure about how to clean your delicate jewelry piece, it is important to talk with your jeweler before using any homemade cleaning solution on it. Now, the question comes to our mind is how to clean the jewelry? To answer this, let me tell you that there are various ways of cleaning jewelry. Jewelry can be cleaned at home too.

Tips for cleaning silver jewelry: A piece of silver jewelry like earrings, finger rings or necklaces should always be cleaned with soft cotton or flannel cloth.

* A silver cleaning cloth may help in quick cleaning your silver jewelry, as it has anti-tarnish ingredients.
* A smooth toothbrush can be used to clean the intricate scrollwork of the jewelry.
* A mixture of small amount of liquid detergent or soap in warm water can also used to clean dirt.
* Rinse the piece of jewelry in warm water, wipe with a cloth and allow it to dry.
* If you have used a toothbrush, then scrub gently and rinse it.
* Use a silver dip (liquid cleaner) or baking soda paste to remove tarnish.

However, it is better to avoid using silver dip in cleaning gemstones, as the stones may get damaged due to chemical reactions.

Tips for cleaning gold jewelry: To clean a charming gold jewelry, such as necklaces, finger rings, bracelets studded with beautiful stones – soak the piece for 10 to 15 minutes in hot soapy water. Now scrub with a soft-bristle toothbrush, rinse it in lukewarm water and allow it to dry. Add a few drops of ammonia into the soapy water to remove the tarnish. In addition to this, dirt can be removed from your gold piece by dipping it into alcohol. In case of cleaning white gold jewelry, ultrasonic jewelry cleaning can be useful under the assistance of a jeweler.

Tips for cleaning diamond jewelry: Every girl has a passionate desire to wear charming, precious diamond jewelry. Like other jewelry, it too may lose its shine after frequent wearing. To bring the sparkle back to your diamond jewelry, you should know how to clean the pieces. Here are some tips for cleaning your diamond jewelry:

* Soak your diamond earring, necklace, etc. in a solution of warm water and ammonia or mild detergent.
* Now scrub gently with a smooth toothbrush.
* A toothpick may help you to get hard-to-reach areas.
* Allow it to dry on a clean cloth or tissue paper.

While cleaning your diamond jewelry, don’t use any homemade chlorine bleach as it may damage the charm and dazzle of the piece.

Tips for cleaning pearls: To clean jewelry made of delicate pearls, use soft and clean cloth and wet it in soapy water. Now rub the piece with this dampened cloth. Rinse it gently and allow it to dry. Do not soak your pearl jewelry in soapy water, as it may cause stretch. An enchanting pearl necklace, earrings, etc. should be worn after cosmetics and perfumes are applied.

These jewelry cleaning tips may help you gain the shine of your adorable piece of jewelry. It is advisable not to use abrasive or other alcoholic mixtures while cleaning pearl jewelry, as alcohol may damage it. For better results or professional cleaning, you may approach a professional jewelry cleaner to polish your necklace or bracelet.

Diamond Rings – How to buy – Certified Diamonds, Diamond Engagement Rings, Earrings and Jewellery

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:00 am

GIA Diamond Jewellery are specialist merchants of loose diamonds (over 0.25 carats) certified by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America)and makers of fine diamond jewellery. All our GIA certified diamonds are sourced for you in compliance with the De Beers best practice principles and the Kimberley process for conflict free diamonds. You may be here because you would like ethical beautiful diamond jewellery either for a special occasion or as a gift. Choosing the right diamond can be complicated and its a great feeling to make an informed decision before investing in such an important purchase. Before we supply graded diamonds we like to ask our clients a few questions such as, do you know who the GIA are? Do you know what the 4Cs are? Do you know about cut grades polish and symmetry? Do you know what enhanced diamonds are ? These are just a few of the points that one should consider and if you have answered no to any of them, then please avoid purchasing a diamond until you are well informed.

Its so important to understand the vital attributes of a diamond before choosing the right one and making that investment. You wouldnt buy a house without knowing the number of bedrooms and dimensions and you probably wouldnt buy a car if you didnt know its colour , so why should a diamond be any different. For consumers we suggest that you consider the following before you commit to purchasing your loose diamonds or jewellery.

1 – Ask for a GIA (Gemological Institute of America) report. The GIA are the creators of the famous 4Cs grading system and the leading authority on diamond grading. You may be surprised to know that the GIA are a not for profit establishment and that they invest all of their revenue in equipment, training and research. Every laboratory in the world is compared to the GIA and its not uncommon for the GIA to downgrade diamonds that have been previously graded by other laboratories because of their superior grading techniques and technology. As a result diamonds graded by other laboratories with apparently the same attributes are usually cheaper than a GIA graded diamond. As all GIA grading laboratories are integrated and strictly monitored for quality control, verifying your diamond report online with the GIA is much easier than with the other grading labs who operate on a more disparate basis.

2- To ensure that you are getting value you must know the Carat (weight), Cut(shape), Colour and Clarity (visible natural inclusions in the stone). Colour and shape are a matter of choice but clarity should be more of a careful consideration. We would strongly recommend that you choose a diamond with a minimum of SI2 in clarity do not purchase a diamond which is graded as I1 2 or 3 as these diamonds have inclusions visible to the naked eye. For round diamonds it is equally important to know the Cut grade (different to the cut shape) other shapes known as fancy shapes such as princess or emerald diamonds dont have a cut grade on a GIA report (beware of retailers who give you a cut grade for shapes other than that of a round diamond as the GIA do not have a cut grade for fancy shapes). Other vital attributes include polish and symmetry this applies to all shapes. We only supply diamonds with Very good to Excellent grades across the cut, symmetry and polish. We would suggest that you avoid any diamond with poor/fair to good grades across any of these attributes. Why is this important? A diamond is like a tiny set of mirrors that interact with light to create the stones appearance. Every angle and every facet affects the amount of light returned or lost. Therefore the quality of the cut, symmetry and polish determines a diamonds brightness, fire and scintillation.

3 – When you purchase a diamond we want you to make an investment and not to have a depreciating asset. With this in mind there are two ways we can help. If you have seen a diamond that you like and you know its important characteristics we can either source a GIA graded diamond with the same attributes at considerably less and for clients who want to spend a specific amount, we can source a diamond with much better attributes at the price you want to pay. Please avoid purchasing a diamond that has been set and un graded. It is very difficult to grade a set diamond and it would need to be removed from the ring for it to be accurately assessed. You would also likely be expected to pay well over the true value of the piece of Jewellery.

4 – Enhanced and treated diamonds – Modern technology has made it possible to treat diamonds in a number of ways. You can induce or lessen colour and improve clarity. As these enhancement technologies advance so does the need to advance the detection technology and techniques. Some of the techniques used to enhance diamonds include coatings, combinations of heat and pressure, irradiation and laser technology. The value of an enhanced stone is somewhat less than that of its un enhanced version. Please be careful and check diamond grading reports to see if enhancement has been detected. At GIA Diamond Jewellery we do not supply enhanced or treated diamonds. Its a common trick for retailers to advertise a diamond with all the attributes that sound good but when you check the report it might say that it has been enhanced. How could you have known about this unless you were aware about enhanced diamonds. Retailers love it because you are getting what you think is a great diamond and paying full price but in reality its had an enhancement procedure which massively reduces its value and affects the structural integrity of the stone.

5 – Tricks of the trade – There are a few tricks that unsuspecting customers should be aware of. Most retailers take advantage of the fact that most people are not aware of what to look out for when purchasing a diamond.

Trick 1: Drop down selection – When browsing online retailers and you select your own diamond you have the opportunity to select shape, colour, clarity. Most consumers are aware of these attributes. What you need to watch out for is when you come across retailers offering you a certificate selection menu. You might get offered a number of certificates including their own and possibly a GIA/IGI certificate. This is not acceptable, you need to know exactly what certificate you are getting, insist on seeing the report of the diamond you are buying. When they state that you will get a GIA or another lab report in the same selection box its an excuse to charge you for the price of the GIA graded diamond but you will probably get the other one on offer as it will be cheaper for them to buy.

Trick 2: You can also sometimes select the cut grade of a round diamond, some retailers trick you by offering good to premium grades in their selection criteria. The catch is that within the premium category they can sell you a diamond with a very good cut and charge you for one with an excellent cut because you have been unable to specify your exact requirements. The difference in price between two diamonds with exactly the same attributes but with one difference in grade across cut, symmetry and polish can be as much as £500 or even more depending on the size of the diamond.

Trick 3: The retailer allows you to select most of the common attributes, you buy the diamond but you dont know the polish or symmetry, you think you might be getting a great deal but if you dont know these attributes how can you be sure. A diamond trader would never buy a diamond unless all the information on the stone was available so why should you.

Trick 4: You buy a ring to go with your diamond and you dont know the weight. Metal prices are by the gram. Dont pay for a 3g platinum ring when you could have had a 5g ring. We always tell you the approx weight of your ring. Also consider the quality of the ring if the ring seems cheap it might look cheap and the quality of the finish not to your expectations. All our rings our of stunning quality hand finished by our master goldsmith.

Trick 5: The retailer offers you their own certificate, you think its a great deal and go for it. Ask yourself why would a diamond with exactly the same attributes as a GIA certificate and another be different in price. The answer is because they are not the same, the inferior grading from another laboratory or in-house retailer grader will never be able to show you the true attributes of the diamond so you think you are buying something that would otherwise be downgraded by the GIA. Also when a retailer grades their own diamond its not an unbiased assessment, its completely in their best interest to upgrade the attributes by one or two grades as to command a higher price.

Ttrick 6: Beware of retailers who claim to offer GIA certified diamonds but cant deliver them, always ask to see the report before you buy. There is a well known retailer online who offers GIA graded diamonds on the site but when you enquire about them, they state that they dont deal with GIA graded diamonds. Always call the company, speak to someone, if you cant get through before you buy, whats going to happen if there is a problem and you need to contact them after you place an order. At GIA Diamond Jewellery we always want to talk to our customers to ensure 100% that we understand your complete requirements.

For the quality of diamonds that we supply our prices are truly unbeatable. If you compare our quotes to some of the online retailers who claim to be the cheapest on the net and ebay our total prices can be as much as 30% less. Look out for misleading initial pricing and then vat being added at the end of your order by some of the companies based outside of the UK. The reason our prices are so low is because our margins are the lowest in the industry and we provide quotes based on fluctuating exchange rates, diamond and metal prices (As a result quotes are only valid for 1 day). Our customer service is second to none, we feel that its important to talk to someone before making an important investment, we take great pleasure in discussing your specific requirements so that we can source the best diamond and jewellery for your budget and exceed expectations. If you are looking for the best advice and unbelievable value for loose or set GIA graded diamonds then give us a try. Talk to the experts youll be glad you did. www.giadiamondjewellery.com

Modern Bridal Jewelry Trends That Incorporate Antique Touches

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:52 am

Bridal jewelry has been around since early times. It has evolved from ancient braided grass and hay to modern fine designs made of precious gems and metals. Weddings are among the grandest and special occasions in people’s lives. It is not only a celebration to unite two individuals in a holy matrimony, but also to unite the two families. Blending the two families may create a very nice idea into the whole wedding occasion. If there is an heirloom in the family, it can be added to the bridal jewelry that either the bride and groom will use.

Modern bridal jewelry these days also incorporate antique touches. For example, if a mom will give her daughter a classic pearl necklace, pair of earrings, or a bracelet, her daughter can wear it on the actual day of her wedding. Most engaged ladies and their moms are looking forward to the time when the bride will be presented with a precious heirloom that may have started from her great-grandmother.

For modern brides, it can be a bit difficult to find the latest style of bridal jewelry in the market with something that incorporates the “Something Old’ tradition. If you are not good enough on this, combining both modern and antique touches can pose a potential problem, which may eventually break your entire wedding look. Therefore, you have to make sure that you know exactly how to integrate, for example, you old family heirloom with a contemporary-styled jewelry that you want to wear on your wedding day.

Bridal jewelry with antique touches can also be suitable even if you want a modern look on your wedding day, except if blends with the right accessories. It is certainly possible to come up with a stunning look by mixing an old family heirloom of yours with your bridal accessories, yet still in a modern bridal style. You may consider swarovski crystals, a perfect liaison to mix antique and modern style well. What is good about swarovski’s is that they feature a semi-antique look with a twist of contemporary touch, making them look truly elegant. Your great-grandmother’s classic pair of pearl earrings would look perfect with a swarovski crystal and pearl jewelry set.

As a bride who wanted to have a modern look on her wedding, you don’t need to have any fear when it comes to incorporating an old family heirloom or any antique jewelry into your bridal ensemble. Swarovski crystal bridal jewelry is just one of many precious ideas that can give that most antiquated look to your wedding wardrobe, yet also has a contemporary feel.

You might also want to apply the latter when selecting bridal jewelry for your bridesmaids. As we all know, jewelry can make the best bridesmaids gifts, symbolizing thanks and appreciation for their help and support in making your wedding day a success. Bridal jewelry gifts, on the other hand, can now be personalized with engraved names or monograms of the bridesmaids. Or you can customize pieces with anything that is related to each of your bridesmaids.

Diamond ring: few tips to buy princess-cut

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:53 am

Princess cut diamond is created in 1979. It took 3 successive years for research to find a design that can create a new feature of this precious stone, which had same visual properties as to a round cut diamond. Nowadays, princess shaped diamond is the second most popular form that is just exceeded by the round one.

Appearance of the princess diamond ring:
In general, this will be look like square or rectangle shape. Top part of the diamond looks in rectangle shape and rest of the body is same like a pyramid form. Usually, they are not as much expensive as the round brilliant cut. As there is no need to slice away much of the diamond to provide this type of cut or to get the desired refined shape, so this can be one of the reasons to become less expensive.

The capability to maintain more crystal weight makes them more popular among cutters of this precious stone. Generally, the width of this type of precious stone is much small than compare to a round one, when carat weight is same. Usually, the length of princess diamond is longer than a round shape.
